The Data Services Core (DSC), a unit within the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), exists to provide cutting-edge statistical and data consulting, training. and infrastructure to social scientists at Duke University - from the newest undergraduate to the most senior faculty member.

The DSC serves as a statistical information center for research and quantitative analysis. We offer in-depth consulting on statistical software, quantitative methods, social science data resources, geospatial resources and analysis, databases and online data interfaces, as well as many other issues relevant to Social Science research and computing.  Our ongoing workshops cover a wide variety of topics including: introductions to relevant software applications, statistical methodologies, and database management.

Not to be overlooked is our modern statistical computing lab which is available for both teaching and individual use. Containing a teaching console with projection capabilities and eighteen workstations equipped with the latest statistical software packages, this lab contains the most complete collection of statistical software anywhere on Duke’s campus.

OUR TEAM

The DSC consists of five staff members and a director. Each team member has a unique set of skills that help promote and facilitate research and quantitative analysis at Duke. Besides the DSC, there are a number of additional people throughout Duke who may be able to assist you with your data/statistical/research questions.
