Research Funding Opportunity – Institute of Homeland Security Solutions
The Institute of Homeland Security Solutions invites faculty to submit research proposals for social science projects addressing current homeland security challenges.
IHSS is a research consortium that includes RTI International, Duke University and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
IHSS conducts applied research in the social and behavioral sciences to address a wide range of homeland security challenges, including critical policy and operational implications of new technologies and information analysis tools. IHSS also conducts research to improve our understanding and analysis of homeland security threats. For more information on IHSS, see https://www.ihssnc.org/AboutIHSS/tabid/54/Default.aspx
We are currently accepting proposals for research projects. Proposals are considered in three stages: Abstract, Research Brief, and Full Proposal. To submit an abstract, you must register on the IHSS website: https://www.ihssnc.org/
Instructions for submitting an abstract are available at: https://www.ihssnc.org/Researchnbspnbspnbsp/InstructionsnbspfornbspResearchers/tabid/74/Default.aspx
Research Briefs are 3-5 pages synopses of the state of the research in the area of the proposed project, similar to a literature review for a typical grant. If your proposal is accepted, you will receive funding to write the Research Brief, which will be published as an IHSS product.
Faculty that complete a Research Brief will be invited to submit a full project proposal. It is anticipated that the funding for full projects will be approximately $250,000.
