The Micro-Incentives Research Center (MIRC) is an affiliate of the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) devoted to promoting research in microeconomics and its applications.

Directed by Chris Timmins, MIRC sponsors small seed grants to promote both graduate student and faculty research and is developing plans for additional activities.

MIRC support is available to both graduate students and faculty. Graduate students needing modest amounts of funding ($1,000 or less) to conduct original research that falls within MIRC's focus should submit a short (3 or fewer pages) description of the planned project that includes a budget explaining how the funds requested will be spent. Applications will be accepted at any time.

Faculty seeking support to conduct a workshop or conference on a topic within MIRC's focus are similarly invited to submit a short (3 or fewer pages) description of the planned project that includes information about:

  • The scope, scale, and location of the proposed conference or meeting;
  • How the proposed event relates to MIRC's topical area;
  • A budget outlining the costs of the event and the amount requested from MIRC, together with information about commitments from
    other units, if applicable
  • Your curriculum vitae

Both faculty and graduate student applications will be accepted at any time. Please send applications to Chris Timmins at timmins@econ.duke.edu
